Asthanga Yoga Teacher Training, 2020
Aurora Yogi will running a Yoga Teacher Training course, exclusively for existing practitioners, wishing to gain a deeper understanding of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
To teach Yoga, one must have a passion for this beautiful science and a sincere resolve to share its light and knowledge for the benefit of others.
Instead of going the traditional route of studying Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, I have chosen the more esoteric Shiva Samhita as our yogic guide. A pre-requisite of this course is to already know and live your Yamas and Niyamas and to have proficiency of the primary series asanas. My role as tutor is not to teach you asana, but to teach you how to teach asana.
The focus of this course will be on learning the correct count passed down from the lineage of teachers since Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and finding one’s own individual adjustment style.
I walk in the footsteps of my teachers and aspire to teach with their same sense of honour and integrity. My aim for this course will be placed within the context of the group as a whole. In order to develop as individual teachers, one must build on their own personal experience, which can be then drawn upon, when sharing yoga with others.
Teaching cannot be based upon the deliverance of parrot-fashion information, but on discourse and practice-based through self-enquiry.
Although the knowledge is imperative, for the correct teaching method of this yoga system, I shall endeavour to bring out the best of one’s ability within each individual student. This is made possible having only a small group of eight students on the teacher training course.
Although I will be the primary teacher on this course, I will be assisted by two other senior Asthanga teachers, Jenna Naik and Jodie Jeacock. I feel that their 'Yin' perspective will be an appropriate balance to my Yang approach to life.
I have where possible selected the bank holidays weekends for this course, to minimise time off for those who work.
Please note that this is a pure Ashtanga Yoga teacher training course, not Vinyasa Flow.
